These filters reduce:
A chlorine water filter typically uses activated carbon to reduce chlorine along with the bad tastes and odours it causes and others, giving you cleaner, better tasting water for drinking, cooking and everyday use. Chlorine is added to municipal water as a disinfectant, but it often leaves a chemical or swimming pool taste and smell, and activated carbon is the most widely used and effective way to remove it. This collection of chlorine and taste & odour water filters includes cartridges from trusted brands such as Pentair Pentek, Matrikx and Omnipure, in three main types: carbon block filters (such as the Pentek EP, EPM and CBC series and Matrikx CTO) that provide finer filtration and also trap small particles, granular activated carbon (GAC) and radial flow carbon (RFC) filters that allow higher flow rates for whole house use, and inline carbon block filters commonly used in reverse osmosis (RO) and under sink drinking water systems. Cartridges are available in standard 2.5" x 10" and 2.5" x 20" sizes as well as 4.5" x 10" and 4.5" x 20" Big Blue sizes.
To choose the right taste & odour and chlorine water filter cartridge, start with the size of your filter housing and how it will be used: carbon block is best for drinking water at a single tap, while GAC and radial flow carbon cartridges are better suited to whole house chlorine filtration. If your municipality uses chloramine instead of chlorine, a catalytic carbon filter may perform better than standard carbon. Most carbon cartridges should be replaced every 6 to 12 months, or sooner if the chlorine taste or smell returns, and a sediment pre-filter will help them last longer.
