- Local Regulations: Some municipalities require proof of Class A certification for private well water treatment.
2 - Water Quality Compatibility
- Pretreatment Needs: UV only works in clear water. Sediment, iron, manganese, or tannins can block UV light. Usually a 5-micron sediment filter is required upstream.
- Flow Rate & Sizing: Match the UV chamber’s rated flow capacity to the home or building’s peak demand (e.g., 10, 15, 18 GPM). Undersizing leads to unsafe disinfection.
3 - Lamp & Sleeve Maintenance
- Lamp Life: UV lamps lose intensity over time. Replacement is typically required every 12 months, even if the lamp still glows.
